Harfan Harfan
About
Harfan Harfan is a Beirut-based music technology platform dedicated to Arabic music lyrics, culture, and community. It connects listeners with artists through annotated lyrics, artist-explained song breakdowns, record label profiles, live event listings, curated playlists, and community forums. Built for the Arabic underground music scene and its global diaspora audience, Harfan Harfan gives the region’s most underrepresented music the documentation, visibility, and engaged community it deserves.

Mission
To make Arabic music more accessible, more documented, and more deeply understood by building a community platform where artists, lyrics, and listeners connect on their own terms.
Vision
To become the defining platform for Arabic music culture globally, giving the underground scene the visibility, documentation, and community infrastructure it has never had.
How it began
1) Arabic song lyrics were nearly impossible to find online, and when they existed, they were rarely explained or contextualized for listeners who did not grow up with the references.
2) Western music platforms and streaming services dominate the region’s cultural landscape, leaving Arabic underground artists chronically undiscovered and underrepresented.
3) Hala Keyrouz wanted to make Arabic music her life’s work and saw a platform that served both artists and listeners as the only way to do it at the scale the scene deserved
How it's going
1) Record labels including Raad Records, whose roster includes Wegz, Scarab Records, whose roster includes Zeyne, and HiGHWAV Records are active on the platform, with Middle Beast also in the pipeline.
2) During the 2024 war, Hala compiled a playlist of Harfan Harfan artists titled “Ossasouna Wa Kalimatouna” which drove unprecedented engagement, proving the platform’s resilience and the emotional pull of Arabic music even in crisis.
3) Inbound interest from artists and labels, rather than the other way around, marked the moment the platform shifted from passion project to real venture.
